Kick Money

I have said this before; I will say it again.

Wayne Rooney gets £250,000 for football a week according to The Sun. No wonder we have problems with healthcare and everything else. Priorities are all wrong.

Chasing chickens--

I have just after  3 months waiting, received  a reply from the Dept of Health. They are NOT responsible for the NMC they declare.

So what? There are issues regarding education of UK nurses and overseas nurses. I did alert them in Februrary re fake certificates .

There are issues re the hearings for professional conduct-- see PSA report. They do not reply either.

Could this not be one of the major problems in healthcare??

See book "The commodity of Care" Choir Press due out anytime. There will be updates on the web and this is one of them.

Community Care(less)

Let the community care for people at home announce the govt, to prevent care home admissions--- and save money--.

Remember- have people had a CRB? Can they be trusted? Will old or vulnerable people, allow people to enter their home? Carers at home whether family or not, need support. Many are under stress and some resent being in that position instead of being able to have  a job and an independent life.

Yes we do need a more compassionate community, for too long we have looked after ourselves and relied on services but we need to prepare and think about it.

NHS Deaths

Needless deaths in 14 NHS trusts. Politicians said to have been in denial at least since 2001( Professor Jarman). poor care extends way before-- all in denial , including individuals and major agencies. Lets only talk about good care they said and some still say. It is not always due to low staffing- but it is  a major factor. Nurses and Doctors need to be in charge. If we must have  a financial manger, have  a clinical manger alongside.

Not only NHS- are reports re private hospitals and care homes in the press. Do not use this as an excuse to privatise and then forget about the care. The private sector is more secretive due to competition and does have different standards.

When we consider problems, we ought not discard history and international situations, Whilst history may be considered to address different eras, recognise the underlying theme. This links to compassion and politics; in the UK beginning with workhouses and the work ethic. Internationally, similar situations occur- politically and due to attitudes. My concern is many refuse to accept that problems have always been there- whatever the country, whoever owns the establishment. They are too busy blaming one another. Problems HAVE always been there and will always occur because of the nature of the role. Fail to acept this--- and it will never change.

Care home 5 staff suspended

Posted by caroldimon on July 10, 2013 at 5:40 AM Comments comments (0)

According to reports, resident passed away after 24 hours in a coma when staff thought she was asleep.

There are many questions raised by this;

If the home was residential (seems so as owned by LA) there were no nurses (supposedly ). Senior carers are in charge. This raises questions of their training- still under debate by politicians - despite application of Skills for Care which does not guarantee uniformity.Yet many residents are now admitted to residential homes- despite some healthcare needs.

Was the lady left in bed or how did staff return her to bed?

Did she have an unerlying condition eg heart or diabetic?

Were records written and maintained?

Did anybody see her during that time?

What about fluids and pressure care etc.

This situation can actually occur-- even during the night but somebody should not be left for so long. Some day staff use this as a rationale for insisting patients get out of bed in the morning and are woken up.

There are means of checking such as pulse and respiration.

Poor Care

Posted by caroldimon on July 4, 2013 at 10:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Our book we know - will need updating. We will do on web and re- releases.

Sadly poor care now an issue at Tameside. Well done staff- and at last- Patients Association (who have existed for 50 years) for taking action.

We are not however suprised. Some poor care as we state, has always existed. People need to acknowledge this. J Hunt does seem to be taking action. The cover-ups  are concerning. Yet they go way beyond the staff besides the patients. Book still due out July. Choir press doing  a great job.

torture and Care

Hi. I am going to toss this idea out there. For many years I have analysed man's inhumanity to man. How can intentional poor care occur at all? To do this we need to analyse punishment and torture. I met one person  some years later, who too also recognised the link (thanks).

Watch Tony Robinson Life in Lincoln Jail 30.6.13, 8pm

So what is the link??

Luther- work ethic--- if you do not contribute, you are unworthy. Echoes today's approach?

Punishment- you do not contribute, you are  a sinner. You stole 5 shillings--

The link is the overriding political orientation. Wait for the book "The commodity of care"

If anybody picks up on this idea, please acknowledge-- give us some hope after 30 years of trying to get people to listen. Thanks.
